A Trip to Galle Fort...

Galle Fort was first built by the Portuguese in 1588 and was then extensively fortified by the Dutch in the 17th Century.  Due to its fortification, it was able to withstand the  Boxing Day Tsunami of 2004, and acted as protection for many during and after the devastating event. It is a historical, archaeological and architectural heritage monument and is definitely worth a visit. With its foreign influence, you don't feel as though you're in Sri Lanka, its like going back to 16th Century Europe as soon as you walk through the gates.

Here's a few shots from a recent trip to the Fort and it's surrounding area. You may have to excuse my obsession with old doors, I collect them in the UK for use in some of my photo shoots.
