I was asked recently to talk at an event in London called Sunday Papers Live. I’d heard of the event before and quickly looked it up to see more of what they were about. They basically magnify everything that makes Sundays great by creating the ultimate Sunday retreat.
You basically sit in the biggest living room you’ve ever seen. Cushions and rugs everywhere, bloody mary’s served on tap, an absolutely banging roast and guest speakers and musicians speak and perform from a Chaise Lounge in the centre of the room. Its fantastic!!
Now, I’d only done a few cookery demos up until now and found that pretty nerve racking but this was something else, 200+ people hanging on my every word. I had a few pints and a bloody mary before hand and i was fine, all about the Dutch courage!!
I was supposed to talk about my experience of the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami in Sri Lanka which I did at first but I then spoke about my book and It ended up being more of a motivational speech about doing what you love for a living and following your dreams. I must of done alright as loads of the audience came up to me after but i was definitely quaking in my boots before i got on stage. Here’s a few shots from the event.
Big ups to Ben and the rest of The Sunday Papers Live crew for having me!!
