GREEN CHILLI COCONUT CHUTNEY

INGREDIENTS

5 green chillies (chopped)                                                                   

½ red onion 

(roughly chopped)                          

2½ cm piece ginger(grated) 

4 cloves of garlic (grated)

150g freshly grated coconut

2 sprigs fresh curry leaves

3 tbsp coconut milk

juice of 1 lime 

½ tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

METHOD

Add the chilli, onion, ginger and garlic to a large pestle and mortar and grind to a smooth paste. Then add all the remaining ingredients and continue to grind until everything is combined and you are happy with the consistency. Personally, I like it a bit rough ’n’ ready but you can make it as smooth as you like. 

Alternatively, if you own a food processor, you can just as easily throw it all in and blitz to a paste. Super easy and delicious too. 

Best served with warm Ulundu Vadai.
